The Benefits of the Senate Health Reform Bill →
It doesn’t look like we’ll get everything we wanted, but there are some positive things here. We can take steps.
Whoa!
That Steve Whitaker is a fast runner!
We've been listening to Presidents of the United...
Boy: Daddy, are we going home now?
Me: In a minute. First we're going over here to get some peaches.
Boy: *GASP* ARE WE MOVING TO THE COUNTRY?!
"DADDY! DADDY!"
The screams came in the middle of the night. This hadn’t happened in months! Was it something serious?
“DADDY! DADDY!”
I sprang from bed, tripping over dog toys, stumbling for the door, stubbing most of my toes in the process.
“DADDY! HELP! DAAAAAADDY!”
Help? What could possibly be wrong? No time to think! Push through the stubbed-toe pain, Sean! Your boy...
Disappearing Posts.

Earlier today, my anniversary post, disappeared then came back on my dashboard.
My next post, a Josef K video, also disappeared but I don’t think it has come back. It’s in my own tumblr dashboard but I can’t see it on the other one. And nobody has loved it yet so I’m presuming nobody else can see it.
So can anybody see the Josef K post?
Please answer either “Yes I can see it. I...

When people look back on the early years of the new millennium they’ll remember it for movies like The Dark Knight and Lord of the Rings. Or they’ll geek out with their friends about the cult classics they discovered together, rewatching copies of the original version of Donnie Darko or spreading around copies of Idiocracy and laughing at...

– The Man with the Yellow Hat. I’m not even kidding. Curious George is easily one of the funniest (and best-written, -voiced and -scored) shows on TV. Back me up, here, fellow captive breeders? (via merlin)
Agree. The one-two setup of Curious George and Sid the Science Kid means there’s a whole...
I can't believe the character in Shane's favorite...
Get the word out, people! Make sure he doesn’t find out before he gets to watch it!
Did You Know?
If you can sing his name to the soundtrack, then it was composed by Danny Elfman.
Working at home is nice. Tolerant doggies are nicer.
Hair cut and that's all.
I like Dragon Dictation for iPhone, but as you might imagine, it’s not perfect. From imperfection, however, can come a few good laughs.
For instance, I tooted this yesterday:
Wow, the walls of this stall are so high, it’s like a cubicle! I mean that stall. That I was in earlier. Not now.
And this is what Dragon Dictation came up with:
The walls of this dollars. I like a chemical!...
Addendum
indefensible:
In essence, I think it’s important to do something instead of (or as well as) looking like you’re doing something. It doesn’t have to be entirely selfless, and it doesn’t have to be inconvenient. The main ‘charitable’ thing I do takes me about 16-20 hours per month, most of it at times that suit me. And I enjoy doing it.
If you’ve been reading my blather for a while, you might...

So, yes. I am cutting way back on trips to the steam table of half-finished, half-useful, half-ideas that I both make and consume. And, with respect, I encourage you to consider doing the same; especially if that all-you-can-eat buffet of snark and streaming produces (or encourages) anything short of your “A” game.
Huh. Look at that.

Conspicuous Compassion
… I have bought this book and given it to people who work in the charitable sector more times than I can remember.
Here’s a sample first chapter [PDF] from Conspicuous Compassion. Looks backordered on AMZN right now, but I will absolutely be buying and reading this very soon.
I quote the sample at length because, as I walked down...
Adam, look out! He's a robot!
With metal claws! And when he grabs you with those metal claws, you can’t break free. Because they’re made of metal, and robots are strong.
